Mr. Jentes has in-depth experience with a wide range of arbitrations administered by the American Arbitration Association, its International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the London Court of International Arbitration, the CPR International Institute for Dispute Prevention & Resolution, and JAMS, plus a number of ad hoc proceedings.

Nearly half of his arbitrations, and many of his mediations, have involved non-U.S. parties from Bermuda, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Ukraine and Venezuela.

A number of the arbitrations and mediations asserted class and multi-party claims on behalf of, and against, domestic and foreign claimants and respondents. Several posed difficult class issues, including the clause construction award by one of the arbitration tribunals on which Mr. Jentes served that was the subject of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in the Stolt-Nielsen case.
Drawing on his extensive experience dealing with multi-faceted disputes as one of the leading litigators at Kirkland & Ellis, Mr. Jentes has built a strong reputation since leaving the firm as an effective commercial arbitrator and mediator, both domestically and internationally.

During the past dozen years he has served as chair, sole arbitrator or panel member in over 70 arbitrations involving a broad spectrum of disputes, with the parties coming from 19 countries. The subject-matters have included challenging accounting, contract, competition, construction, corporate, insurance, intellectual property and securities issues, among others, and have ranged across most major industries.

Paralleling his arbitration work, Mr. Jentes has successfully mediated difficult commercial disputes relating to a similarly wide array of issues, parties and industries.

Reflecting his recognition as a leader in the ADR field:

»  Mr. Jentes is a Fellow and recent Board Member of the College of Commercial Arbitrators;

»  Best Lawyers named him as its Chicago "International Arbitration-Commercial Lawyer of the Year" for 2012, and as Chicago "Mediation Lawyer of the Year" for 2014, his 25th appearance in the publication.

»  In 2014 he was again selected for inclusion in The International Who's Who of Commercial Arbitration, and Leading Lawyers Network repeats its listing of him in the categories of ADR Law: International and Commercial Litigation;

»  Who's Who Legal, the official research partner of the International Bar Association and the ABA Section of International Law, reports in its Illinois edition that Mr. Jentes is "praised for work on both domestic and international disputes" and is "one of the most eminent figures in the state";

»  He continues to serve on CPR's National Panel of Distinguished Neutrals.
