As the president and founder of the firm, D. Peter Hochberg’s collegiate education began at Cornell University where he received his BME degree. Prior to attending law school, Peter worked as an engineer for the Eastman Kodak Company. His studies continued at Georgetown University Law School where he served on the law journal and earned his JD degree. He has been an intellectual property attorney for the Eastman Kodak Company and Carrier Corporation. He lived in France where he was the assistant director of a licensing organization. Before opening his own firm in 1984, he was a partner at Squire, Sanders and Dempsey, where he headed the intellectual property law department. Peter has practiced intellectual property law for over 30 years.

Peter has prepared, filed and prosecuted countless patent and trademark applications in the United States and foreign countries. He has also been deeply involved with patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret licensing and litigation, and counseling in all phases of intellectual property law. He regularly attends intellectual property meetings of the professional organizations to which the firm belongs, including AIPLA, CIPLA, FICPI, AIPPI, APAA and INTA. He has served as an arbitrator in significant patent infringement cases of the American Arbitration Association.

Peter is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the bars of Ohio, New York and Virginia.

We have done extensive work with a wide variety of businesses, including electronically-controlled conveyance systems, electronic security systems, transformers, electronic testing equipment, printing systems, sports equipment, medical technologies and hospital apparatus, marine equipment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, bearings, clothing, household goods, automotive technologies, transportation equipment, flooring accessories, watches, electronically-operated measuring devices, GPS and related systems, photography systems and heat exchange equipment.

Our trademark practice is extremely diversified. Trademark matters constitute a significant portion of our practice having obtained and maintained countless trademark registrations in the U.S. and throughout the world.

Our practice further includes extensive patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret licensing and litigation matters; and counseling in all phases of intellectual property law, as well as arbitration of major patent infringement cases
